The Beaver River Regional Waste Management Commission (BRRWMC) was formed by Order in Council in March, 2003 and consists of the municipalities of the Town of Bonnyville, M.D. of Bonnyville, City of Cold Lake, Summer Village of Bonnyville Beach, and Summer Village of Pelican Narrows. The total project cost is estimated to be $15.84 million - with provincial funding of $10.78 million. The balance of funding of $5.06 million is covered by the municipalities. The MSW (Municipal Solid Waste) that is accepted at the transfer stations is to be transferred to the Evergreen Regional Waste Management Services Commission landfill site near Lafond, Alberta. All other waste, including construction and demolition waste, used oil, and tires may be accepted at the Class III landfill sites at the same locations and are also operated by the municipality in which they are located. Operations began at all stations on April 01, 2009 - and are each operated under contract with the municipality in which they are located. |
